New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced a significant seizure of over 28,000 pounds of illicit vape products following a three-month investigation by the Department of Health's Bureau of Investigations. The investigation targeted Ecto World, also known as Demand Vape, a Buffalo-area distributor illegally shipping large quantities of vape products to unlicensed retailers across New York, particularly Long Island and Orange County. The seized products included over 26,000 pounds intercepted with the Nassau County Police Department and approximately 2,761 pounds seized by the Town of Montgomery Police Department. Governor Hochul emphasized the health risks posed by these illicit products, especially to young people, stating, “Illicit vape products pose serious risks to the health of New Yorkers, especially our youth.” Criminal charges will be pursued against Ecto World and its owner by the Nassau and Orange County District Attorney's Offices.
