Care worker spat at Celtic fans and threw vape during Old Firm disorder
Summary
Lisa Gibson, 37, a care worker from Dalmarnock, Glasgow, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and breach of the peace at Glasgow Sheriff Court after an Old Firm Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox Stadium on March 8. The match, hosted by Rangers and won by Celtic on penalties, ended with both sets of fans entering the pitch and engaging in disorder. Gibson was seen in the main stand spitting twice, shouting and gesticulating at opposing fans, and throwing a vape at Celtic supporters near the Broomloan Stand. She also remonstrated with police, saying "Why are you not turning to them?" and "This is our stadium." She handed herself in after police released her image. Her defence lawyer said she was provoked after an item thrown by opposition fans struck her son on the leg, though he was not injured. Sheriff Lorraine Glancy KC deferred sentencing until next month for background reports and granted bail, stating all sentencing options remain open.
