S'pore man, 23, allegedly trafficked etomidate vape pods, 2 vapes & 55 pods found at home

A 23-year-old man, Dean Daniel Ong, has been charged with allegedly trafficking vaporiser pods containing etomidate. Following a tip-off, Health Sciences Authority (HSA) officers conducted an enforcement operation at his Hougang residence on July 30, where they seized two vaporisers and 55 pods. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of etomidate in the pods.
The case was adjourned on August 7 and is scheduled for mention on September 18. Under the Tobacco and Vaporisers Control Act 1993, etomidate is classified as a Specified Psychoactive Substance. Convictions for trafficking such substances carry heavy penalties, including significant prison terms and caning.
