‘Zombie drug’ openly sold at some vape outlets in Malaysia

Malaysian police uncovered the open sale of furanylfentanyl, a potent synthetic drug derived from fentanyl, at some vape outlets during “Ops Vape 1.0,” a nationwide operation conducted from April 13-17. The operation, involving over 3,000 personnel from various agencies, resulted in total seizures worth RM4.6 million (S$1.48 million). Investigations revealed that some vape outlets were beginning to sell the highly addictive and dangerous drug, which carries a high overdose risk. Five individuals were arrested, with 18.56kg of furanylfentanyl liquid seized, valued at RM2.8 million. A total of 1,670 vape outlets were inspected, with 728 found violating regulations and 20 individuals arrested. The Health Ministry also initiated investigations, issuing notices and compounding numerous premises.
