The new “Minor Health Protection and Addictive Behaviors Prevention” law, effective this Saturday, introduces a tiered penalty system for violations. Minors caught possessing or using these products face fines ranging from €200 to €3,005.06, while retailers face significantly higher penalties, escalating to over €600,000 for repeat offenses. The law also expands smoke-free zones around public buildings and restricts advertising of alcohol and energy drinks near schools and facilities catering to children. Penalties can be substituted with community service or rehabilitation programs. This initiative aims to curb addictive behaviors and safeguard the health of young people in the region.
