Deal Vape Shop ordered to shut after illegal tobacco discovery
Summary
Deal Vape Shop on the high street in Deal has been ordered to close for three months after illicit tobacco and cigarettes were seized. Police and Kent County Council Trading Standards visited the shop on Monday, November 2, following intelligence gathering and joint enforcement with Dover District Council. Folkestone Magistrates issued the Closure Order yesterday. DDC cabinet member Cllr Michael Nee said residents and legitimate businesses should not have to endure persistent illegal trading, and stressed the value of agencies sharing intelligence and taking coordinated action. Dover Inspector Mark Bishop said the closure sends a clear message that businesses operating outside the law will not be tolerated, disrupting criminal activity and preventing those involved from profiting. He added that officers will continue working with partner agencies to tackle such offending and keep Deal safe and welcoming.
