Five charged after jumping out of pickup truck to allegedly rob a man at gunpoint — for $30 vape pen: police
Summary
Five Florida men were charged with felony robbery after police allege they held up a man walking home from work in Winter Haven and stole a vape pen worth about $30. The incident occurred around 9:36 p.m. on a Sunday when a pickup truck pulled up beside the victim, and five men jumped out, demanding everything in his pockets. The victim told the group he only had a cellphone and a vape pen, but one suspect allegedly revealed a gun and demanded the items. The suspects took the vape pen and demanded the victim's cellphone, which he refused to hand over, claiming it had a tracker. After the suspects got back into the truck and drove away, officers located the vehicle and arrested the men, including Damarius Jamel Taylor, Tayshawn Williams, Javon Prince Jackson-Roby, Martice Spears Jr., and Deshawn Antwon Lampkin. Two 17-year-old girls were also charged with resisting arrest. The investigation revealed that a 17-year-old girl who was in the truck did not witness the robbery but heard yelling and later saw one of the men return with the vape pen.
