402 Vape Cases Linked To Synthetic Drugs, Strengthen Case For Ban — Dzulkefly
Summary
Data from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) shows 402 vape cases involving synthetic drugs up to April this year. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated that the presence of substances like benzodiazepine, nimetazepam, MDMA, cannabinoids, tetrahydrocannabinol, and methamphetamine in vape preparations provides a strong basis for banning vapes. He noted that the matter is under government consideration. The police have also highlighted the emergence of a new synthetic drug known as 'Piu Piu' in e-cigarette liquids. The Ministry of Health (MOH) is committed to addressing this threat through cross-agency cooperation and has launched initiatives like the Cik Era AI virtual companion and the JomQuit platform to support enforcement of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024.
