NSF under probe for vape-related offences in Sengkang
Summary
A full-time national serviceman (NSF) is currently under investigation for vaping offences after he was captured on CCTV in Sengkang appearing unsteady and stumbling. The police responded to a call for assistance at Block 452A Sengkang West Way on April 2 at approximately 1:30 am, where they seized a vaporiser and a vape pod. A 28-minute video of the incident, posted by a resident on the online pages of media outlet Stomp, shows the man in a beige T-shirt taking puffs from the device and stumbling down a corridor before attempting to enter a flat. He appears unable to enter the flat as he does not have the keys. He falls down and continues to loiter along the corridor for about 30 minutes. At 1:50 am, two police officers arrive and ask the man for his address and identity card number, but he appears to have trouble remembering. The police ask if he stays on the sixth floor, but the NSF states he stays on the seventh floor. The police inform him he is on level six. He later leaves with the police officers. A Ministry of Defence (Mindef) spokesman confirmed on April 24 that the man is an NSF with the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) and has been referred to the Health Sciences Authority. The spokesman stated that Mindef and SAF expect all personnel to uphold high standards of discipline and adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards the possession and use of vaporisers as well as prohibited substances.
