The Richland County Council in South Carolina has approved an ordinance banning vaping and the use of electronic smoking devices across the county's unincorporated areas. The measure, which passed its third and final reading, expands existing workplace smoking restrictions to include e-cigarettes and vaping products. Vaping is now prohibited in all covered indoor workplaces and customer-facing areas such as retail stores and restaurants. A 15-foot smoke- and vape-free perimeter is also mandated around entrances and exits to enclosed facilities. Exceptions apply to private residences and designated smoking rooms in hotels. Violators face a $25 fine per offense.
