Two thirds of parents want vaping age raised to 21
Summary
A poll by Whitestone Insight for the Freedom Association reveals that 66% of parents with children under 18 want the vaping age raised from 18 to 21. The public finds current plans, such as plain packaging and display restrictions, insufficient, with only 7% believing plain packaging is a deterrent. Strong support exists for tougher enforcement: 84% favor penalties for retailers selling to children, 82% for more inspections, and 78% for compulsory licensing. Andy Burnham's proposals are criticized as too weak. The government plans to consult on licensing next year, but 81% of the public want this accelerated. Parents prioritize enforcement, with 58% favoring it over regulation. Even Reform UK supporters back licensing. Plain packaging is seen as the least effective measure.
