2FIRSTS | UK Vape Tax Countdown: Retailer Vape HQ Estimates 100ml E-liquid Prices Could Rise From £12.99 to £39.39, While Pod Kits Increase Less Than 10%
Summary
The UK's upcoming Vaping Products Duty (VPD), set for October 1, 2026, will introduce a volume-based tax of £2.20 per 10ml of e-liquid. Retailer Vape HQ has provided illustrative estimates showing that this tax will impact product categories unevenly.
Specifically, 100ml shortfill e-liquids could see a massive price surge of approximately 203%, rising from £12.99 to £39.39. In contrast, 2ml prefilled pod vape kits are expected to see a much smaller increase of about 9%, rising from £5.99 to £6.52. Other formats, such as 10ml bottles, may see increases around 66%.
These estimates are based on duty and VAT and do not account for additional business costs. The shift in taxation is expected to reshape market competition and consumer preferences across different vaping product categories.
