Customs uncovers N809.6m expired vape shipment, posts 35% revenue growth

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Command intercepted a 40-foot container containing 182,340 expired disposable vape devices. The shipment, valued at N809.6 million in duty-paid value, contained products with various expiry dates ranging from 2022 to 2026, posing a public health risk.
Alongside this seizure, the KLT Command reported a significant revenue increase for June 2026, generating N19.4 billion compared to N14.3 billion in June 2025, marking a 35% growth. Acting Customs Area Controller Bolaji Adigun attributed this success to diligent cargo examination and enhanced enforcement operations. The seized goods are being transferred to the appropriate government agency for safe disposal.
