Kirikiri Customs generated N19.4 billion in June and seized expired vapes valued at N809.7 million.

Summary

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) reported a significant revenue increase to N19.4 billion in June 2026, a 35% rise compared to the previous year. Acting Customs Area Controller Bolaji Adigun attributed this growth to enhanced stakeholder compliance and intelligence-driven strategies.

During enforcement operations, officers intercepted a 40-foot container containing 182,340 pieces of expired disposable vapes, with a Duty Paid Value of N809.7 million. The products, which had expiry dates ranging from 2022 to 2026, posed significant public health risks and are being prepared for disposal by regulatory agencies.

Adigun emphasized the Command's commitment to balancing revenue collection with trade facilitation. He urged importers to utilize the Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) Programme to ensure compliance and prevent unsafe goods from entering the country.
