The American Vape Shop on Market Street in Chorley has been issued a closure order following an investigation by Lancashire Trading Standards. The shop was found to be selling illegal vapes, illicit cigarettes, and tobacco, and was also involved in sales to underage customers.
During five separate inspections, officers seized 864 packs of cigarettes and tobacco, along with 187 illegal vapes. The closure order, granted by Preston Magistrates’ Court, remains in effect until October 2026. PC Pete Burns of Lancashire Police emphasized that the action serves as a warning against selling illegal products to minors.
Paul Noone from Lancashire County Council noted that such enforcement is vital for protecting public health and preventing anti-social behavior. The community is encouraged to report any concerns regarding illegal tobacco or vape sales to Trading Standards.
