Isabela State U-Echague bans vaping inside campus
Summary
Isabela State University (ISU) – Echague has reminded its constituents that vaping inside the campus is strictly prohibited. The Office of Student Affairs and Services stated in an announcement on Monday, October 26, that violations of this policy are classified as major offenses and may result in disciplinary actions outlined in the University Student Manual. The university clarified that vaping is classified as a form of smoking, as it involves inhaling vaporized substances similar to traditional tobacco products, which are also prohibited. This policy aligns with a broader push by the Department of Health (DOH), which earlier called on school officials to help in the national drive against smoking by banning cigarettes and vape devices within campuses. The DOH noted that students should not be bringing vape devices to school because many begin vaping as soon as they leave campus. The agency also pointed out that Republic Act No. 11900, or the Vaporized Nicotine and Non-Nicotine Products Regulation Act, already prohibits the sale of vape devices to minors, meaning students should not have access to these products in the first place.
