Two vape shops in Swansea have been shut down by the city council's trading standards team. World Vape Shop in Pontarddulais was ordered to close for three months after fake tobacco and vapes were found in a hidden storage unit. Snoop Vape Store on High Street was also closed after repeated sales of illegal tobacco to undercover officers over two months. The closures were carried out after the council successfully applied to Swansea Magistrates' Court. The council's trading standards team leader, Rhys Harries, stated that they are committed to tackling the illegal sale of tobacco and vapes, often to children. He noted that they have powers to close shops but need court orders to extend temporary closures to three months to disrupt trade. Cabinet member Andrew Williams emphasized that the council is taking the sale of illegal vapes and counterfeit tobacco very seriously. The crackdown follows a wider operation in October 2025 where trading standards and South Wales Police raided shops, closing nine and confiscating over £70,000 of illegal goods.
