The closure comes after the city confirmed that the vape shop and its sister business, Jay's Bar and Grill, no longer have active business licenses. The licenses expired on April 30, 2025, and the bar's liquor licenses were suspended on April 3, 2026. The owner, Jay Kalin, Jr., was recently indicted on drug charges following a law enforcement operation that seized approximately 30,000 pounds of illegal products. The bar has a history of legal troubles, including previous alcohol license suspensions and fines for serving underage customers. The vape shop, which is popular with college students, was listed as open online as of May 4, but calls went straight to voicemail.
