‘Total vape’ ban, proposed by DOH
Summary
The Department of Health (DOH) is proposing a total ban on the use of e-cigarettes. Under this proposal, the use of vapes would be completely prohibited due to the health risks they pose to users. According to DOH OIC-Director Dr. Dominic Maddumba, if a total ban is not possible, the government should implement restrictions instead. Maddumba emphasized that vaping products should be plain tobacco only and should not have various flavors to avoid enticing young people to use them. The DOH has previously stated that e-cigarettes and tobacco products are dangerous as they can lead to cardiovascular disease, cancer, and other lung diseases.
