11-year-old among three fined for vaping in Singapore
Summary
During an anti-vape enforcement operation in Singapore on April 30, an 11-year-old was among three individuals fined for vaping. The Health Sciences Authority (HSA) reported that two males and one female, aged between 11 and 29, were caught and fined on the spot. Separately, a 17-year-old boy was arrested for a suspected repeat etomidate offense, with his urine testing positive for the drug. The operation, conducted by the HSA and police, resulted in the seizure of four vapes and related components, including one pod suspected to contain the anaesthetic agent etomidate. New anti-vaping laws, which came into effect on May 1, impose stricter penalties, with fines for vaping increasing to up to $10,000 and for etomidate offenses to up to $20,000 or a jail term of up to 10 years. In the last four months of 2025, a total of 3,534 people were caught and fined for owning and using vapes, including 366 Kpod abusers. Additionally, five males aged between 17 and 20 were caught for underage smoking and referred for counseling.
