Most vapes, e-cigarettes now illegal to sell in Pennsylvania
Summary
Pennsylvania's Act 57 took effect Monday, Oct. 19, establishing a state approval system for e-cigarettes and vape products that makes most items currently on store shelves illegal to sell. Attorney General Dave Sunday said the law aims to crack down on sales of nicotine products to minors. Under the law, vape products must be approved by the state before sale, and the regulation applies to online sales and manufacturers shipping into the state. Retailers selling unapproved products face a $500 fine per item. So far, only 6 of the 28 manufacturers that applied have been approved. Manufacturers face thousands of dollars in application fees, and Sunday's team said most applications are incomplete. Any illegal products remaining in stores after the deadline are considered a total loss.
