The transparent orange liquid contained 3.56% methamphetamine hydrochloride and etomidate, a Category 2 psychotropic substance. Inhaling the mixture could cause unconsciousness, abnormal heartbeat, acute heart failure, or sudden death. Etomidate, an anesthetic misused in vape liquids like “K-pods” or “zombie e-cigarettes,” suppresses breathing and brain function, while methamphetamine stimulates the nervous system and heart. This combination creates opposing effects, increasing health risks. The department’s Bureau of Drug and Narcotic examined the pod in June 2026, marking a new pattern of illicit drug use. Thailand’s Food and Drug Administration reclassified etomidate as a Category 2 psychotropic substance in July 2025 due to its misuse in vape products.
