Organisers of the Totnes Show have announced that the event, scheduled for Sunday 26 July, will be entirely smoke‑free and vape‑free, covering the showground, car parks and even the setup days before the show. The decision follows an exceptionally long dry spell and recent wildfires across South Devon, prompting organisers to prioritise the safety of visitors, animals and the countryside. Earlier this month a wildfire burned two acres of fields near Paignton, prompting fire crews from several towns to advise the public to avoid open fires and other ignition sources.
